We married while serving on the same campus ministry team at Indiana University of Pennsylvania
in 2002.
We’ve served in Eastern PA and IUP with the Campus Ministry,
Campus Crusade’s President–Steve Douglass, the Global Prayer Movement of CCC, for a national office in East Asia, in Singapore, and now with the JESUS Film.

Jess and her group after sharing the Jesus Film in an Indian neighborhood in Fiji
We have 2 boys, Ethan (who was born in Singapore) and Caleb. As for a third, we’ll see. We have considered adopting–a girl, not sure we have the energy for another boy.
Jess‘ spiritual gifts are service and administration. I totally agree! She likes to Jazzercise–she’s a certified instructor–and to run. She’s run several 1/2 marathons and one full with the hopes of running another. She also likes reading and movies. She’s a James Madison University grad with a B.S. in Health Sciences: Assessment and Promotion. She has been a certified Birkman consultant. Her Myers-Briggs is ISTJ. Her favorite book of the Bible/Verse is probably 1 Peter and was first drawn to Christ in the 7th grade.
My (Steve) spiritual gifts are encouragement, mercy and shepherding. My interests include hunting–especially bow, fishing, reading history and theology, and sitting outside with friends or just alone in my thoughts. I’m a VA Tech grad with a B.S. in Sociology, minor in Psychology, but always thought I would be a Wildlife Biologist studying meerkats in Africa. My M.A. is in Biblical Studies from East Asia School of Theology. Myers-Briggs is I/E, NFP. My favorite book of the Bible/Verse is whatever I’m studying, but I’m often drawn to Romans 6-8 and Ephesians. I first began to follow Jesus when I was 10 1/2.
I’m excited to be a part of Story Runners. Read more about it HERE. Jess works largely to take care of our boys–which is a large work–but also gives time at our Headquarters instructing Jazzercise classes as a part of our wellness and benefits programs, as well as has helping various leaders with administrative needs. And I would say, she’s great at all of them!
Okay, I probably knew this but forgot. Fiji is so INCREDIBLE. I loved being there. Glad to see Jess had fun there too and shared about Jesus!
